Textile Artist

I have worked with fabric and yarn since I was knee-high to my Grandmother's sewing machine. I attended Swansea College of Art where I trained in Technical Graphics and Illustration, specialising in botanical illustration. I worked as an illustrator then brought up my 4 children. During this time I attended many classes updating my textile skills.I also started a knitwear business specialising in making hats, working on commissions and supplying craft shops. I started teaching in adult education over 20 years ago. Ten years ago I was given the opportunity to teach textiles in a secondary school. I then achieved a First Class BA Hons degree in Textiles for Fashion and a fully qualified Teacher status. I am now a full time textile artist. I have worked as an artist in Residence at a Primary School and run workshops for various groups . I exhibit and sell my work and teach sewing and creative textile workshops. I have a studio Space at The Point in Eastleigh and workshops running in the local area.I collect Vintage sewing machines and I run Vintage sewing classes using my machines

I am a Textile artist and teacher. I am passionate about textiles and am inspired by colour and texture. I have a studio at The Point where I create my colourful textile art. I exhibit and sell my work. I also teach sewing and creative textile workshops. I use Vintage sewing machines in some of my workshops. I work with schools to produce communal textile artwork.

I am a fully qualified teacher with an enhanced CRB. I have worked as an artist in residence at a Primary school and have organised and run workshops for KS2 and KS3 linked to the curriculum. I have ten years experience in working with a wide range of children up to GCSE level and have run workshops for 'A'Level students. I would like to continue working in education passing on my knowledge and skills to the next generation of potentialTextile designers. I teach textile classes to adults through local colleges.

I currently exhibit my work and have had solo shows in the local area.

I enjoy working on commissions. Please contact me to discuss details.

I am happy to work one to one with anyone. Whether it is a beginner's sewing lesson or if you would like to learn how to use a sewing machine. I am also available for more advanced textile techniques and skills such as felt making, painting on silk or embroidered jewellery. In fact I am happy to teach anything to do with textiles.

I have a range of unique gifts which I sell to private customers as well as online. I make fabric collages for special events such as birthday and celebrations. I am happy to discuss any ideas you may have for a special gift.

I run textile workshops through colleges and groups and my own workshops. I am happy to provide my expertise to any group. Please contact me if you would like me to run a workshop for you. I will teach all aspects of textiles.
