The 1899 novella, ‘Heart of Darkness’ by Joseph Conrad is listed as a masterpiece. Charlie Marlow, tells the story of the journey he took as a young man into the Belgian Congo in search of a Mr Kurtz, revealing the horrors he encounters on this dark adventure. It is a story within a story, told many years after the expedition to a group of men on a ship anchored in the Thames. The discussion will be led by Glad West.
