'Winter Jewels’ Jewellery Exhibition is once again set to sparkle at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. Members of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery Wessex will be welcomed back to the Visitor Pavilion for their popular annual selling exhibition, which is now in it’s 6th year. The exhibition features the best contemporary jewellery in Wessex by more than 25 studio jewellers from the region, with the makers manning the exhibition themselves. The play is a one-woman performance focusing on a girl called Jane. Jane has been sectioned and is in hospital following a suicide attempt. The play follows the conversation that she has when telephoning her mother.
The drama is derived from watching the ebbs and flows of Jane's confessions and emotions as they both try to traverse the situation they find themselves in.
The play is written and performed as a realistic commentary to inform and develop empathy but also inspire some hope.
Join Sticks Gallery on the 24th November for the private view of Dewi Cary's new work, ENDING, comprising a film and photographic work. Dewi is a dyslexic artist who has experienced painful bouts of depression, which this new work explores. The film transports the audience into the shoes of the depressed person, aiming to reduce the stigma so often attached with mental illness, and highlighting that behind every label is a person.
