An exhibition bringing together marine-themed works from the outstanding collection of Southampton City Art Gallery to celebrate the shores of the south we inhabit. This eclectic selection of paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries, includes works by Richard Eurich, Spencer Gore and C.R.W. Nevinson.
The region’s long and varied relationship with the sea is reflected through these charming and historic works and includes rarely seen works conserved especially for the exhibition.

Through the words of those who knew David Brown and his exceptional contribution to the arts, this is the intriguing story of a remarkable man, collector and curator. Major artists from the 20th century are represented in this outstanding private collection of works, left as a bequest to Southampton City Art Gallery. The eclectic selection features work by Roger Fry, Gilbert & George, Richard Long, Roger Hilton and Howard Hodgkin to name a few.

Gerald Scarfe is the UK’s most prominent political cartoonist, known for his acerbic and uncompromising satire – his work has appeared in The Sunday Times for 50 years. Scarfe’s unmistakable characters and worlds have also been given life on stage and screen. From Pink Floyd’s The Wall (1979) to English National Ballet’s The Nutcracker (2002), this is the first UK touring exhibition to explore his extensive work in film, opera and ballet design.

The Night at the Races is a fun evening where you can enjoy a drink with your friends in comfortable surroundings whilst watching a selection of 8 horse races (flat races and over the jumps). You can place bets on the horses of your choice from a race programme. Many of the horses in the programme have amusing appropriate (or inappropriate!) names.

There’s nothing like a friendly folk night to start your weekend and The Lounge Bar will be hosting the monthly singaround onthe third Friday of every month from 7.30pm to close.
RoughDitchFolk’s Pete Stephens and Barbara Parry will be running the sessions and you’re assured of a friendly welcome whether you’re coming along to take part or just to have a listen over a relaxing drink from the bar.
This twice yearly event is run by the Alton Bottle Collectors Club at Alton, Hampshire.

GOODNESS! We have a cracking gig for you. Local Leviathans Alternative Carpark had a quieter 2017 and it's just not cricket- so we booked them for a night of remembering why they're so utterly revered. Supporting them are Throatpunch City - unpredictable rock with jaunty time signatures that confuse the waltzers amongst you. Sizzling Bonobos step up to entertain us all again (Alton's premier super group) and the first venture out for Growla: featuring members of the local grunge/rock scene.

Our Learn to Play day is open to all ages and is for anyone interested in having a go at an instrument or wants to be involved in music. We will have tours of all three studios available for those interested in music production or for artists thinking of recording. There will be bands performing throughout the day with loads of live entertainment! This is a charity event, however the day is free to attend. Any donations will be given to the Wessex Cancer Trust.

In the summer of 2016, the organisers of FolkEast Festival had the grand idea of pairing legendary fiddle player Peter Knight (ex-Steeleye Span) and melodeon player extraordinaire, John Spiers (ex-Bellowhead) for a special ‘one off’ concert at that year’s festival.
