Saxophonist and vocalist Simone Smith will be swinging along with songs she has previously performed with famous Ivy Benson Orchestra and the Squadronaires band. In 2014 ‘ Show of Hands’ acclaimed frontman Steve Knightley set out on a mission to play 150 village halls and ‘ untapped’ grassroots community venues. His hugely successful ‘ Grow Your Own Gig’ tour saw him performing at a bedrock of intimate rural venues, drawing on his treasure trove of songs of the English countryside. Then in 2015 he turned his attention from the land to the sea for his ‘ All At Sea’ tour of maritime venues – all within sight and sound of the tide.

'Winter Jewels’ Jewellery Exhibition is once again set to sparkle at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. Members of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery Wessex will be welcomed back to the Visitor Pavilion for their popular annual selling exhibition, which is now in it’s 6th year. The exhibition features the best contemporary jewellery in Wessex by more than 25 studio jewellers from the region, with the makers manning the exhibition themselves. Through the words of those who knew David Brown and his exceptional contribution to the arts, this is the intriguing story of a remarkable man, collector and curator. Major artists from the 20th century are represented in this outstanding private collection of works, left as a bequest to Southampton City Art Gallery. The eclectic selection features work by Roger Fry, Gilbert & George, Richard Long, Roger Hilton and Howard Hodgkin to name a few.
Join Sticks Gallery on the 24th November for the private view of Dewi Cary's new work, ENDING, comprising a film and photographic work. Dewi is a dyslexic artist who has experienced painful bouts of depression, which this new work explores. The film transports the audience into the shoes of the depressed person, aiming to reduce the stigma so often attached with mental illness, and highlighting that behind every label is a person.
