Making Space is a development organisation which promotes excellence in contemporary craft, design and visual arts. Based in a bespoke venue, Making Space offers affordable studio spaces to makers producing high quality work and offers creative classes in its jewellery and ceramics studios, which are open to the public. Making Space supports individual artists and designers through portfolio advice sessions, networking, exhibition, teaching and workshop opportunities and maker development.
Our 7 studios can be leased for shorter and longer term leases and our teachings studios can be hired by the hour e.g., hot benching, and makers can use our kilns at an hourly rate. We offer high quality tailored projects that engages communities, fosters creativity and inspires people to learn through making. We have a particular emphasis on working in Leigh Park and across Hampshire. Projects have involved all of the schools in Leigh Park as well as work with young people, families, elderly and cross generation work and community celebrations in parks and in community spaces.
We encourage people of all ages and abilities to get hands on with materials, explore ideas and develop new skills while being taught by the finest professional makers in the area. Making Space has a fully equipped jewellery studio and a larger ceramics studio.
