After my post-graduate studies at the University of Southampton (Winchester School of Art campus in Barcelona, Spain), I have worked with a diverse range of organisations.
Since 2006, I have worked as a Gallery Lecturer through Southampton City Art Gallery. Providing guided tours, lectures, seminars and workshops for universities, schools and other educational organisations. I also work closely with Winchester City Council (Museum Services) and Southampton City Council (Education and Heritage).
As a long-time teacher (with over fifteen years experience), I provide, through the auspices of Hampshire County Council (Hampshire Futures - Adult and Community Learning) a nationally accredited adult education program in Art and IT with the support of Trinity Winchester (a charity that provides a drop-in service for the homeless and the vulnerably housed).
My art practice is two-fold. Firstly through my continuing development of community projects and teaching in collaboration with educational and charitable organisations. And, secondly through my on-going research into the exploration of objects; their history, status and plasticity of meaning.
I am able to engage with an audience on a immediate and personal level, swirling together globs of facts, theories & ideas into finely tuned stories, that convey digestable & moreover exciting teaching points & concepts.
With over ten yrs experience (6 of which has with through Southampton City Art Gallery) working as an art practitioner / educator through a wide range of educational bodies, specialising in both Adult Education and Primary Education (Key Stage 1 & 2).
With over ten years as a practicing professional artist, specialising in dry media portraiture. I can offer a high quality commission based service. Working from photos of the chosen subject to produce stunning protraits in charcoal / chalk and graphite.
