Living History

I am an actress and began specialising in museum theatre 14 years ago when I created "Violet's Titanic Escape" for the Southampton Maritime Museum.

For 11 years I managed the team of costumed interpreters at Milestones- Hampshire's Living History Museum and this is where Terri and I met and hatched the plan for "Pedlars and Petticoats".

Since 2011 "Pedlars and Petticoats" have worked at The Vyne, City Mill, Portsmouth Festival of Christmas, Salisbury Museum, The Willis Museum, The Red House Museum, Manor Farm, as well as schools and village halls.

I also work as a freelance museum educator for SeaCity and provide family activities at English Heritage sites for "Griffin Historical".

In the past I've worked at Acton Scott Working Farm, Blists Hill Open Air Museum and for "Past Pleasures" at Hampton Court and the Tower Of London.

"Pedlars and Petticoats" is a partnership between myself and Terri Reid. Together we aim to bring Hampshire history to life through stories, theatrical presentations, historic characters and events.

We are also entertaining and popular Public Speakers with our 1 woman shows. We provide training in this area used by SCC.

Present 1 woman shows such as "Violet's Titanic Escape", "Put Your Best Face Forward" and "Suffering Suffragettes".

"Pedlars and Petticoats" are able to bring to life characters from Medieval, Tudor, Victorian, Edwardian, WWI and WWII. . Specific character presentations available for schools and museums include Violet Jessop, Titanic Stewardess, Florence Nightingale, Mrs Charles Dickens and Katherine Parr.

"Pedlars and Petticoats" aim to bring Hampshire history to life. We provide characters and living history events for museums, heritage sites, village halls and schools.
