I am a Fine Art graduate from Winchester School of Art. Since university I have worked at INTECH Science and Technology Centre, Southampton City Art Gallery, Tudor House & Garden and SeaCity Museum. Currently I am Lead Learning Officer for Southampton Arts and Heritage where I work with the Learning Team to program formal and informal learning opportunities for our visitors, who range from little ones in our early years clubs through to university groups and individual adults.I have experience of delivering in a variety of settings from galleries, museums and schools though to parks, shopping centers and community venues.

So how can I help you? Well, if you are thinking of organising a project, be it large or small, I can offer help and advice or, if needs be, organise it with you or for you. I know lots of inspiring freelance artists and historians who can take your ideas and learning goals and turn them into bespoke activities that will give your group a truly memorable experience. I am Arts Award Advisor trained, have recently completed my PTTLS teaching qualification and have worked on several funding applications to bodies such as Arts Council and Heritage Lottery Fund.

Most importantly though, in my opinion I have tons of practical experience. In the 10 years I have worked for Southampton Arts & Heritage I have organised over 4500 activities and projects in which approximately 117,000 people have taken part. If I had a pound for every printing roller I’ve ever washed up I’d be well on my way to being a millionaire! I do what I do because I enjoy it. I love working with inspiring artists who get me feeling creative and will never get tired of listening to fascinating historical tails that leave me wondering and wanting to find out more. I like to see people leaving with a smile on their face and buzzing about what they have just experienced.

I am down to earth, practically minded, organised, quick thinking and creative, but also realistic, which I think makes a good combination for this kind of work.So if you don’t know where to start with a school project, want someone to visit your organisation, need help with a funding idea or have something in mind that I have not mentioned then drop me a line. Hopefully I will be able to help or put you in touch with someone who can.

Why not have an Arty Party or gross out your friends with some Horrible History? An artist or costumed actor can turn a birthday party into a very special. Planned in response to the particular interest of the birthday boy or girl. Popular themes include: fun with clay, customizing t-shirts / bags, pimp your plimsolls, printmaking, plaster casting to create a jewellery stand or a gruesome arm, mummifying an orange. We have loads more suggestions for fun activities, just give me a ring to discuss your idea. Prices vary according to the activity.

I have worked on exhibitions in a number of different capacities. I also programme the learning displays in our dedicated learning display area within the main hall of the City Art Gallery. Exhibitions within this area by community and learning groups. I have supported a number of schools to work with artists to generate work for display by both pupils and artists in school, both on a temporary and permanent basis.
