Meeting Miss Austen

Winchester Discovery Centre

Premiere of Meeting Miss Austen – a performance based on Jane Austen’s teenage writings

Hampshire-based theatre company, 2TimeTheatre, presents the world premiere of Meeting Miss Austen by local author Cecily O'Neill at the Winchester Discovery Centre as part of the 2017 Winchester Festival, with a professional cast and music and songs of the period.

In these plays, based on Austen’s Juvenilia, we hear the voice of the teenage Jane; exuberant, saucy and often surreal.

Riots in July!

Alton Assembly Rooms

The true story of how local vicars were mobbed, two workhouses destroyed, and desperate men

finally transported to Australia will be told vividly by actors ‘in the round’.

The concept of the original production was as a ‘Community Play’ using players from many different

drama groups within the area. This spirit lives on, and director Steve White would be delighted to
hear from anybody wishing to join in the new production, whether in a drama group or not.

Puppetry Skills for Adults

Cobbett Hub & Library

Unexpected Places Director Rosanna Sloan leads this one day workshop introducing the group to the skills needed to puppeteer. We will start with the basics of movement, then move into characterisation, voice and then creating short scenes with objects and puppets. This workshop is suitable for anyone with an interest in puppetry, and those looking to brush up on their technique. Rosanna trained at Rose Bruford College in European Theatre Arts, with a semester studying puppetry at D.A.M.U.
