Diets are not for me. I’ve tried a few times, and it always results in me lying in my bed covered in chocolate stains and tears. The best way to satisfy my need for something sweet while living in Southampton? Let me tell you.
If you ever go to Southampton, Bournemouth or Portsmouth you should swing by the marvellous Sprinkles Gelato. This is my happy place. It really doesn’t matter what kind of horrible thing you’ve been through that day, a little Sprinkles time will turn that frown upside down.
Failed a test? Sprinkles! Got splashed down by a passing bus on your way to school? Sprinkles! Your hamster died this morning? Sprinkles!
You might be thinking “How will this help me?”
You’re entering a room that smells like all things nice and sweet, and you see the tables already seated are filled with the most amazing sundaes and waffles. They’re enormous, stuffed to the brim with topping, and absolutely beautiful.
The first time I was there I almost didn’t believe my eyes. Had I died and gone to calorie heaven? After wiping the initial shock out of my eyes, I flipped through their comprehensive menu and landed on a crêpe with milk chocolate sauce, strawberries and bananas. I was so excited. My friend ordered a waffle with Nutella and strawberries. I believe she was equally excited. My order arrived first, and I swear I saw a tear come to my friends’ eye.
The first bite felt like Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and my birthday combined. Since I moved here two months ago, I’ve probably been to Sprinkles Gelato ten times. No, I’m not kidding. You get hooked. Bad. But I believe in treating yourself to the greater goods in life, and this definitely goes under that category.
In case my superlatives are not enough to convince you, here’s a picture:
